A horror story to beautiful music

The battle for the beautiful Leonora’s heart can begin! Giuseppe Verdi’s opera is a story of brothers torn apart and turned enemies by civil war. The tragic events and characters are mirrored by the music, which flows in an endless cavalcade of affecting melodies.

Ravishing drama, horror and beautiful music – Il Trovatore is a powerful experience.

“I want to turn the Opera House into a gigantic canvas. The artist Francisco de Goya is like a narrator, a troubadour, whose brush paints the tragedy of love, revenge, war, and death – the destruction of war.”

Synopsis

Azucena once kidnapped one of the two sons of Count Luna, intending to kill him, but instead killed her own son and raised the kidnapped boy as her own. Now there is a civil war in the kingdom, and Manrico and Count Luna are enemies, unaware that they are actually brothers. They have only one thing in common: they are both in love with the lovely Leonora.

Was leads inexorably to tragedy, as the Count executes Manrico and only then is told the truth by Azucena: he has just killed his own brother.

Fantastical arias

One marvellous aria barely ends when the orchestra begins the next rhythmic accompaniment, and another memorable melody begins to unravel. An opera of incredible musical fireworks, Il Trovatore combines everything there is to love about the genre.
