Sales and delivery terms and conditions
SALES AND DELIVERY TERMS AND CONDITIONS WERE UPDATED ON 13 DECEMBER 2022
Please see our sales terms and conditions for further information about discounts, ticket prices and changes, and reservations. You will find the updated sales terms and conditions of the Opera Restaurant further down on this page. We reserve the right to make changes.
Please note that all visitors, regardless of their age, must have their own ticket. Children younger than 5 are not admitted to Main Stage performances. It’s the customer’s responsibility to ensure that their purchase information matches their order.
Exchanging your ticket
Full price tickets and concessionary tickets for under-20-year olds, students and pensioners can be exchanged in our online store free of charge. To exchange your ticket, you must have a valid customer account. Tickets can’t be exchanged in the mobile app. Group bookings of 10 or more tickets, promotional discount tickets and tickets to guest performances are non-changeable. Tickets included in gift bundles can’t be exchanged online.
This means you can change your tickets for another performance in the same season, subject to seat availability. In case the new ticket is more expensive, you will need to pay the price difference. If you’re not sure for which performance you want to exchange your ticket, you can choose to have the value of the tickets credited to your customer account instead. Tickets and refreshments can be exchanged for credit up until 24 hours before the start of a performance either via your customer account in our online store or by calling our customer services. Tickets cannot be exchanged via email.
Please note that, in principle, the credit in your customer account is valid only for another performance during the same performance season (August to June). The credit can also be used to buy gift vouchers or season tickets, but it is not valid for tickets to guest performances.
How to exchange tickets and refreshments for credit in our online store:
- Sign in to your customer account here.
- Go to My Events
- Select the performance you want to exchange and click the Exchange for credit button beneath the performance details.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
- Remember to also cancel any refreshments you’ve ordered for the performance.
- The value of your purchase will be instantly converted to credit in your customer account, which is valid for performances until the end of May 2023.
Exchanging tickets in the mobile app is currently not possible.
Please note that, for the moment, your customer account credit is valid until the end of May 2023. The credit is valid for tickets and refreshments for performances in the 2022–2023 season as well as for gift vouchers and season tickets. It cannot be used to buy tickets to guest performances. The right to exchange tickets or receive a refund does not apply to guest performances.
A service fee of €5 per ticket applies to exchanges made at the FNOB customer service point or by telephone. The service fee will be charged at the time of the exchange. Tickets must be exchanged no later than 24 hours before the performance.
No refund will be granted for tickets that have been paid for and not exchanged in time (i.e. no later than 24 hours before the performance) or for non-changeable tickets.
Repertoire changes and force majeure cases
In the case of a repertoire change or a cancellation due to force majeure, the value of your ticket will be credited to your customer account in exchange for the original ticket. Service and delivery fees are non-refundable. If you do not want to use the credit for future performances, we will credit the value of your purchases to the payment method you used in the online store. Please send us an e-mail to: liput@opera.fi and we will get back to you. If you have purchased tickets and / or refreshments from a customer service point, we can also make a bank transfer. Refund requests must be made within one month of the exchange or cancellation. In the event of a cancellation, the Finnish National Opera and Ballet will not reimburse any additional expenses incurred.
Flexible pricing
We operate with a dynamic pricing policy. The seats in the auditorium are divided into price categories from A to H, depending on their view of the stage. As well as the view, the price is affected by the acoustics, the distance from the stage, any obstructions such as safety rails, and the effects of the production’s direction on the view. The cheapest tickets may have restricted views, and the same price category may include tickets in different parts of the auditorium.
In addition to seat location, ticket prices are also affected by the performance date (day of the week and time of the year), and possible visiting artists, for example. The price of the seat may vary according to ticket demand during the performance period. The price of a seat may vary during the performance period. Tickets for premieres have a higher price range. For detailed pricing information and a seating plan showing seat availability, please visit your chosen production’s dedicated page and click on your preferred date.
