For preschoolers
Our programmes for preschoolers introduce the magic of opera and ballet through performances and workshops. On this page, you will also find enrolment instructions for daycare groups.
opera & ballet in action
In Opera & Ballet in Action workshops, 5 to 6 years olds can experience the fascinating world of opera and ballet. Participants learn about a selected Main Stage production through hands-on activities, such as dancing, and crafting. The workshops last approximately 1 hour and are held in Finnish. The theme of the workshops in the 2025–2026 season is the Cinderella ballet.
Enrolment for daycare groups in Opera & Ballet In Action workshops in spring 2026 will begin on Monday 1 Dec at 9 a.m. Enrolment will end on Fri 5 Dec at 11.59 p.m.
As part of our co-operation with the municipalities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, we offer local daycare groups the chance to participate in the Opera & Ballet In Action workshops free of charge. For daycare groups from outside the area there are some free places too. Please enrol for the performances in advance. Participants for the audience are selected taking into account first-time participants and municipal co-operation.

magic moment tour in autumn 2025
Registration for the Magic Moment tour has closed.
The new Magic Moment is part of the Opera & Ballet in Action concept. It is a 30-minute session designed for preschool-aged children, featuring dance, music, and singing. In autumn 2025, the theme is the Cinderella ballet, which engages children through movement and music.
In November and December, we will tour daycare centers in the Helsinki metropolitan area with Magic Moment.
Between 1 and 8 sessions can be held during the day, depending on the size of the daycare and its groups. Please note that the maximum group size per session is 50 children.

mini opera
Mini Operas are lively 30-minute versions of well-known operas bursting with energy and excitement. Two brilliant singers bring to life a wealth of characters, while two musicians create a colourful orchestral sound. The performance is suitable for audiences of all ages, starting from preschoolers. Our current repertoire features a Mini Opera adaptation of The Barber of Seville.
Enrolment for daycare groups in Mini Opera performances in spring 2026 will begin on Monday 24 Nov at 10 a.m. Enrolment will end on Fri 28 Nov at 11.59 p.m.
