Tips for buying your tickets
Ensure your seat with these useful tips
Are you wondering when you should buy your tickets and where you should sit? You’ll find the answers here. Our customer services are also happy to assist you if there’s anything else you’d like to know.
We recommend taking a look at our repertoire first and picking a production that feels the most interesting or that you know something about already. You’ll find a photo gallery, trailers, and excerpts of the music on the production page.
First time visitors might prefer a shorter performance or a production with a familiar plot or music. You can also ask our customer services for recommendations.
The most economical seats usually sell out first. We recommend you to buy your tickets in good time if you wish to secure as economical seats as possible.
Ticket sales for autumn season performances generally start in March/April and for spring season performances in September/October. Nevertheless, there may be some exceptions to this. The start of our ticket sales is always announced in advance in our social media channels. The start date for ticket sales can also be found on each production page.
Did you know about our concessions and discounts? Same-day tickets for under 20-year-olds, students, conscripts, non-military servicemen, the unemployed and pensioners are available at a special rate of €20 to €50 per ticket. The discounted tickets are available according to demand for select seats in the Stalls and the 2nd Balcony (no reservations allowed, discounts do not apply to cancellations) not earlier than 12 hours before the performance. Concession ticket holders must meet the applicable criteria, and proof of eligibility will be required upon arrival.
Sometimes unforeseen events can interfere with your plans to attend a performance. Thankfully you can easily exchange your standard, youth, student, or pensioner tickets for a different date. Changes can be made until 24 hours before the performance. To learn more about ticket exchanges and any exceptions to our normal policy, please read our sales terms and conditions.
Ticket prices for our performances vary. The most economical tickets for Main Stage performances cost 20 euros, while the price of the most expensive tickets can be over 100 euros. Pricing information and a map of the auditorium showing seat availability can be found by clicking on a performance date on the production page.

Kindly keep in mind that children, too, need their own ticket and seat. The age limit for our Main Stage performances is 5. Children younger than this are not admitted to the auditorium.
Selecting your ideal seat is a matter of personal preference, and the best way to find your favourite is by trying different options. If you’d like to see the performers’ expressions, costumes and sets in detail, we recommend sitting at the front of the Stalls. These seats are also great for families with children.
For a broader perspective of the performance or if you want to focus on the music, opt for Balcony seats. At opera performances, Balcony seats offer a fantastic view of the stage and the orchestra, as well as the surtitles.
Both the Main Stage and Almi Hall auditoriums have accessible seats, which can be reached via a lift. Access to the Stalls and the 3rd Balcony is via stairs only. The stairs have handrails. You can learn more about accessibility at the Opera House here. If you need help finding a suitable seat, our customer service representatives are happy to assist you. We recommend that you order your refreshments in advance. This ensures both table availability and that you have a wider selection from which to choose. Sales in the online store end 24 hours before the performance at the latest. You can also order refreshments by phone or in person at the customer service point of the Opera House.
