Alice in Wonderland

23.8.2019 – 28.5.2020

Fall into a fairy-tale world

”Everyone knows Alice in Wonderland. Now, Finland’s own world famous choreographer Jorma Elo has made Alice into a ballet. This wonderful performance, with the characters from the book dancing throughout the performance, is truly an experience for the whole family.”

- Madeleine Onne, Artistic Director of the Ballet

Triple Bill

27.9.2019 – 12.10.2019

Three dance works in one evening

”I love triple bills! With three different ballets, three different choreographers and three different kinds of music, there’s something for everyone. The dancers of the FNB can really show you what they can do – it’s like a “masters of the dance” evening.”

- Madeleine Onne, Artistic Director of the Ballet

Erich Wolfgang Korngold

Die tote Stadt

5.10.2019 – 18.10.2019

When words are not enough, you need opera

”Kasper Holten’s version of Korngold’s opera is one of the most magnificent works in our repertoire. The ingenious sets provide an astounding, beautiful and multidimensional visual feast. An evening of masterful opera is guaranteed.”

- Lilli Paasikivi, Artistic Director of the Opera

Sebastian Fagerlund

Höstsonaten – Autumn Sonata

15.11.2019 – 12.12.2019

The cinema classic as an acclaimed opera

”Sebastian Fagerlund’s opera Höstsonaten – Autumn Sonata, based on a novel of the same name by Ingmar Bergman, was a critics’ favourite in 2017. This ravishing relationship drama will return to the FNO repertoire, starred by one of today’s most important opera artists, Anne Sofie von Otter.”

- Lilli Paasikivi, Artistic Director of the Opera

Ariadne auf Naxos

24.1.2020 – 15.2.2020

”A stage version of Ariadne auf Naxos will be seen for the first time at the current premises of the FNO. Director Katie Mitchell’s production is an excellent example of modern European regietheater. One of the season’s highlights will be the interpretation of the role of Ariadne by Miina-Liisa Värelä, whose rise to European opera fame has been astronomical.”
