Young dancers’ evening at the Finnish National Ballet
Young dancers’ evening at the Finnish National Ballet presents a spectacular mix of the old and the new. In addition to the world premieres of Julian Nicosia and Craig Davidson’s contemporary dance choreographies, the repertoire comprises an excerpt of The Kermesse in Bruges. This rarely performed ballet, which premiered in 1851, is opportunity for dancers to showcase their mastery of the challenging Bournonville technique. The dancers of Finnish National Ballet will rehearse it under the guidance of Dinna Bjørn, one of the world’s foremost authorities on August Bournonville’s choreographies.
