Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera @ Musiikkitalo

In autumn 2024, The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera (FNO) will enchant audiences at Musiikkitalo with the launch of a new, unique concert series. Concertgoers will be treated to gems of orchestral music and vocal performances by leading names from around the world. The programme reflects the full variety of life and human emotions.

Urkuyö & Aaria: Lyric Night

An August evening beckons you to enjoy a nocturnal adventure in the moonlight, as Tapiola Hall in Espoo echoes with Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) and Alexander Zemlinsky’s Lyric Symphony. The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera will be conducted by Chief Conductor Hannu Lintu. Soprano Astrid Kessler and baritone Tommi Hakala will sing as the soloists of the Lyric Symphony.

Symphonic Suites

Experience moments from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most beloved musicals on the Main Stage of the Finnish National Opera. This one-of-a-kind experience is guaranteed to give you goosebumps.

Juha Tapio – a birthday concert

The beloved singer and songwriter celebrates his fiftieth birthday in February 2024. A special celebration requires a special venue, so Juha is making his long-term dream come true and bringing his band to the Finnish National Opera’s Main Stage for the first time.

Strauss Concert

One of the delightful traditions in Helsinki, at the beginning of the New Year, are the Strauss Concerts. On Epiphany Day, Saturday January 6th the Main Stage at the National Opera invites you to enjoy the festive concerts.

Chamber music festival

The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023. To mark the occasion, the orchestra musicians will give their audience a birthday present: the immensely popular free foyer concerts will be staged in Töölö, Helsinki, on the anniversary weekend from 1 to 3 September. Three concerts will take place at the Concert Hall of the R Building of Sibelius Academy and two in the impressive ballroom of the Aalto University Töölö.

Organ Night & Aria: Das Lied von der Erde

As the sun sets on an August evening, the stirring symphonic song cycle “Das Lied von der Erde” (The Song of the Earth) by Gustav Mahler will resound in the air.

Boulanger and Mahler – The 60th anniversary of the Orchestra of the FNO

The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023. Established on 12 August 1963, the orchestra has played a decisive role in the evolution of the Finnish National Opera and the great rise of Finnish opera.

PianoEspoo: Bruce Liu

Bruce Liu’s star is rising at a tremendous speed. In spring 2021, he joined the likes of Martha Argerich and Krystian Zimerman in winning the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

Hamina Bastioni: Verdi’s Requiem

The Orchestra and Chorus of the Finnish National Opera will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s magnificent Requiem at Hamina Bastion on Thursday 10 August 2023.
